The oral history project Oral Histories of Scientific Ocean Drilling aims at collecting, preserving and disseminating the individual memories of experts who have been involved in scientific ocean drilling from diverse positions, fields of expertise, countries, and times.
By transforming individual memories into written sources for history, our goal is to actively contribute to write the past of scientific ocean drilling. In doing so, we aim to underscore and preserve its significance for the future.

The project Oral Histories of Scientific Ocean Drilling is developed at the Institute for Marine-Earth Exploration and Engineering (MarE3), from the Japan Agency of Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC, Yokosuka, Japan). It is funded by the JAMSTEC Young Research Fellowship 2023-2026.
